Job description

We are seeking an innovative Head of Operations to join the leadership team of our developer-led company. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our growth and stability.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with technical people and projects and a history of successful leadership on medium to large teams. A management style that embraces a people-centered approach that heavily utilizes mentorship, coaching and consensus building is critical. The ideal candidate will have extensive client-facing account management experience. We are looking for a highly organized, self motivated, problem solver who can manage teams with diplomacy. To succeed in this largely flat organization, a candidate should be highly collaborative and responsive to feedback.
This is a full-time remote position. Candidates must be able to work primarily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Responsibilities

  • Advise, support, and empower team leads in executing their roles and responsibilities.
  • Work with team leads and project leads to optimize processes that enhance the client experience and continuously work to identify additional client needs.
  • Ensure consistency of process and documentation across the growing team and help communicate best practices.
  • Conduct regular group team lead meetings and planning sessions to keep the team on course with key objectives.
  • Promote and facilitate ongoing mentoring and training, and help to continuously improve our internal training programs.
  • Help develop strategic communications.
  • Help to create, monitor, and communicate key performance objectives.
  • Ensure execution of individual professional development plans.
  • Mentor and support team leads in ensuring impactful team member reviews and support towards individual goals.
  • Help oversee the on-boarding and training of new team members.
  • Help manage internal projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with recruitment and hiring activities.
  • Embrace an evidence-based data-driven approach to making recommendations, solving problems, and improving processes.
  • Help with business administration tasks as needed.
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information with absolute discretion.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience to deliver on the responsibilities listed here or show that your aptitude and innovative abilities will allow you to get there quickly.
  • Expert level experience leveraging Agile methodologies to deliver software products and solutions.
  • 7+ years experience managing technical teams, with at least some of those years managing 30 or more people.
  • Extensive experience working directly with clients.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An exceptional eye for detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Team oriented, flexible, open-minded, and conscientious.
  • Experience working with a remote team.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Ideal but not required: past professional experience as a developer/programmer.
